New Oil Rig Explosion, Houston Lawyers Call for Better Prote

Your Maritime Lawyer -- “Once again we see tragedy unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico, and it is our sincere hope that all maritime workers escape the oil rig unharmed,” says Jason Itkin, a partner in the Houston-based law firm, which represents maritime workers throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

“This latest explosion shows drilling companies are still not doing enough to ensure the safety of the maritime workers and our sensitive coastal environment,” Itkin says.

Thirteen oil workers were stranded, including one with injuries, news reports say. No deaths have been reported. The United States Coast Guard responded.

Sure, especially those who work or live in the area, more protection is good. But will the corporations that control these structures pay for it? Very doubtful...

When will we learn from our mistakes? Media is once again jumping on the fear band wagon. I believe that if the BP etal spill/leak was not as huge as it was, it wouldn't have made headlines and nothing would have altered the status quo.

Martinman,

Because this is not just about today's explosion, it is about what the media is doing about it.

-----------

In April the news was minimized and we were given the story that the Deep Water / BP oil well was just an exploratory well.

Later we learned it was spewing 5,000 barrels a day then a few weeks later, 10,000, then 50,000 and more.

+++++++++++

This latest event (explosion) may be big, or small.

Don't you find it interesting to see how the media (Internet) plays this latest news out?

As it is not deep water drilling they would have the safety protection in place.

Okay.

So this is from a website promoting lawyers (versus "news"), who might have an agenda to run, for which ACTUAL NEWS has already been submitted,...

... so,... why REPOST a biased-version of news that was already submitted?
